These last couple months have been full of hard work in the gym and outside of the gym. I’ve landed myself a new, good part-time job that doesn’t exactly fit my career field but has some carryover, and is paying me well. I’ve also landed another part-time job in my field and I’m gathering work experience in the industry while returning to college to get my bachelors degree, after getting my associate’s earlier this year. Enough about life though, we’ll get down to gym stuff.

I decided to take on two comps, two weekends in a row. The first weekend is Static Monsters, so I know I’ll be able to handle the two lifts then return the following weekend for a full competition. Which is why I know I’ll be okay to do it.

My goal for Static Monsters was to total 700lbs at the 198 weight class, as opposed to last year I was in the 231 weight class. Overall, my deadlift weight has actually gone up during the weight loss of 15lbs, and my log has mostly stayed the same. However, still hitting the same weights, while weighing that much lighter is a clear sign of maintaining strength. And after testing my lifts, I’m comfortably sitting at 205 on Log and 510 on axle deadlift, while weighing 195. Overall, I’m shooting for even higher numbers at the comp.

The following weekend is a full comp, with Axle clean and press, atlas stone load, a block carry and chain drag medley, a deadlift medley, and an axle bar squat. A lot of fun events that I’m looking forward to and overall have done well balancing the prep for each event. I’m very excited for that competition as well.

Right now I’m right where I want to be and am looking forward to sharing my results of each competition on the blog!
