Recently, after some long thought and self-evaluation, I’ve come to terms with something that I really didn’t want to face until now: my current job field is going to be a dead end and it’s so unlikely that I’ll be able to make it a full time career.

After getting out of healthcare I pursued a degree in Multimedia and Game Development. Overall, I loved going to school, and I love making games. That being said, as some of you may know… the gaming industry has gone downhill these last couple years. Reality is, it’s just unlikely that me, an indie dev with an Associates degree is going to make game development a full time career. I currently have a side hustle with an indie studio, where I get to work on projects with a variety of other people who share my passion. Reality is, that may be where I spend my career. And recently I’ve come to terms that I’m okay with that.

Now we get into what I chose to do to better my situation: I enrolled in the ISSA’s Personal Training Certification. I also enrolled in the Strength and Conditioning Coach certification as well. For one, job availability is huge. There are something like 80 jobs on Google when I search in my area, which is great news.

So far, I’ve done a few modules of the course and I have to say it is really some great material. I’ll be honest, after all my years in the gym I was able to breeze through a couple modules without even having to read the material. But really it is an awesome foundation and a great course so far. I’m really looking forward to helping people grow stronger, and teaching people about fitness. I’ve taught Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a few years now at my gym, so I know I have experience that will help out as well when I get certified and begin applying for jobs.

I hope to find a job sometime soon, and begin as soon as I can. I’m excited to help people grow stronger, build confidence, and train hard. With that being said, I want to grow this platform. I want to begin writing programs, articles, and grow my blog. I’d like to really reach out and create my brand Really Strong Nerds. It will include this blog, merchandise, free sample programs, paid (very affordable) extended programs, interaction, etc.

Overall, I’m hopeful for the future. I’m excited that I have found ways to tie my passions for fitness, gaming, lifting, media, videos, etc. together. I hope to create a platform for everyone to enjoy and grow together.
